Pacific Coast Fruit Harvest Festival

On Monday August 23rd 2010 Pacific Coast Fruit Company is hosting a Harvest Festival Restaurant and Retail Food Show showcasing Pacific Northwest growers and promoting the availability of local produce and products through Pacific Coast Fruit Company.

Our list of participants this year includes over 30 growers from throughout the Pacific Northwest, Food Alliance and Oregon Tilth, organizations dedicated to supporting safe and fair working conditions and environmental sustainability in agriculture and the food industry.

Throughout the show, Food Alliance educators will conduct seminars and provide tools and resources that promote sustainability and help restaurant and retail operators more easily source and promote local, sustainable products in their establishments. 

We will conduct warehouse tours, offer product and beverage samples from Alloro Vineyards and Hopworks Brewery.  In addition, we are giving away discounts on orders for attending the show and raffling prizes such as IPod’s, IPad’s and a gift certificate to Castagna, the Oregonian’s Restaurant of the year 2010. 

The Harvest Festival Restaurant and Retail Food Show is 2PM to 6PM “Farmer’s Market” style across the street from our building and families including supervised children are welcome to attend.  Come join a great afternoon of building long lasting partnerships, meeting new friends and seeing and sampling many of the wonderful products that are grown and made in the great Pacific Northwest.  

Schedule of Events:

2:00-6:00pm - Live music with Jeff Putterman, food and beverage samples from Alloro Winery and Hopworks Brewery, watermelon eating contest and children’s coloring contest with prizes for three age groups.  The winning pictures will be posted on the PCF website. 

2:30-3:00pm - Seminar: Sustainability-What certification options are available for food service and retail and what do they mean?

3:00-3:05 pm - Raffle Drawing: (must be present to win).

3:05-3:25pm - Facility Tour: Walking tour of the plant, quality control, VA packaging and traceability.

3:30-4:00pm - Seminar: Sustainability-How can I incorporate sustainable products into my restaurant?

4:00-4:05pm - Raffle Drawing: (must be present to win).

4:05-4:25pm - Facility Tour:   Walking tour of the plant, quality control, VA packaging and traceability.

4:30-5:00pm - Seminar: Why should distributors become Food Alliance certified? Discussion of the benefits of Food Alliance Certification.

5:00-5:05pm - Raffle Drawing: (must be present to win).

5:00-5:30pm - Watermelon eating contest

5:15-5:45pm - Seminar: Why should grower producers become Food Alliance certified?  Discussion of the benefits of Food Alliance Certification.

5:45-5:50pm - Final Raffle Drawing:  (must be present to win).
