OPHA Presents: Food for Thought

An evening of thought provoking discussion, networking, food and drink. Learn why you should care about and engage in building a sustainable food system for the health of people, our community, and our environment. We will be screening a short segment of the Academy Award nominated documentary, "Food, Inc.", hosting a panel discussion of local experts, including Scott Exo, executive director of Food Alliance, as well as a Q&A session.
21st Annual PASA Farming for the Future Conference

Innovative Agriculture for the 21st Century

agriculture techniques have given us unprecedented amounts of food.
However, critics note the large amounts of water, energy, and chemicals
required for these yields have uncertain impacts on long-term soil
fertility and the health of both humans and the environment. Some
growers are working to address these issues by practicing cutting-edge
techniques that incorporate ecological principles. A panel presentation,
including Food Alliance certification director Karen Lewotsky, will
discuss organic and sustainable agricultural practices.
