Distributor Certification

DistributorGREEN(125).gifFood Alliance offers the most comprehensive sustainability certification for food distributors in North America, with certification standards that address a broad range of consumer concerns about social and environmental responsibility.

Food Alliance Certified distribution facilities must demonstrate continuous improvement for safe and fair working conditions, conservation of energy and water, waste management, elimination of toxic and hazardous materials, and other facility management concerns. Compliance is verified through annual third-party inspections.

Testimonials:

"Sustainability may start with the farmer, but it doesn’t end there. Distributors play an important role in getting more sustainably grown products to market."
- Ernie Spada Jr., President, Duck Delivery

“The response has been very good, so we definitely want to work with suppliers who are willing to consider Food Alliance certification, bring more of those products on board, and have more to offer to our customers."
- Randy Irvine, President, Food Services of America

“Consumers are concerned about health and food safety. They are asking more questions about where their food comes from and how it was grown. As a meat processor and distributor, we see sustainability as extending the commitment we have to food safety to a broader context of protecting human and environmental health.”
- Tom Semke, Senior VP of Sales, Fulton Provision Company

"Food Alliance has opened doors in the foodservice sector that provides us new opportunities. We want to help grow this program and promote the certification to our farmer suppliers, so that we can meet the needs of our retail and food service customers."
- Phil Brooks, CEO, H. Brooks & Company
